Sally is sent to live with her Aunt after her Father's sudden death. She gets a strange letter from someone that says something about finding a Marchbanks. Sally is unsure of what it means and doesn't really want to talk about it with her Aunt. Sally is not happy with her Aunt, the rules or how she is treated. So Sally takes what money she has and goes off on her own.Sally meets a photographer who allows her to stay with him and his sister. Meanwhile, the mystery of her father's death and many other things are thickening. What is the Seven Blessings? Who is Mrs. Holland? And how exactly is she connected to any of this?I was very excited to read this as I am a big fan of Philip Pullman and this book didn't disappoint. It was a wonderful mystery with some surprises that I really didn't expect.I'm looking forward to reading the other books.
