The three bone cousins were kicked out of Boneville after Phoney Bone picnic and other plans went horribly wrong. They get split up after being swarmed by bugs and Fone Bone finds himself in a strange valley. Lucky for him, he runs into Thorn, who will help him find his cousins and get back to Boneville.I honestly wasn't sure if I'd like this, but I borrowed from the library and decided to give it a try. At first, I wasn't too impressed and it was really because of Phoney Bone. He's greedy, rude and pretty mean. However, after the cousins are split up is when it gets really good and the story mostly follows Fone Bone. You do get peeks here and there on what Phoney Bone, or Smiley Bone is up to.This graphic novel was funny. I laughed out loud many times. As far as characters go, I didn't like Phoney Bone much, but from the ending, it kind of seems there might be a different side to him. Smiley Bone was a bit annoying, but not too bad. And Fone Bone I really like. Grandma Ben and Thorn are also quite likeable characters as well. I also loved the Red Dragon. He was cool.I quite enjoyed the story and really thought this was a wonderful graphic novel. I am wondering about the bad guys, though and what they are really trying to do.I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
