Black Elk's Vision: A Lakota Story - S.D. Nelson
As a child Black Elk had a vision of a world that was united. Later in life he became a holy man and was greatly respected by his people. The book follows his life through childhood, teenage years and then into adulthood. The reader learns about Black Elk's vision and what he sees and learns as he grows older. I thought this book was great and this is a good way to introduce children (and even adults) to Black Elk and his life. It's an easy read with nice illustrations and great historical photos.
