The Case for Loving: The Fight for Interracial Marriage - Selina Alko, Selina Alko, Sean Qualls

This is a nonfiction picture book for children about the Loving family. Richard and Mildred Loving married in Washington DC because their home state of Virginia wouldn't allow them to marry. Richard was White and Mildred was African-American and Native American. Since they were different races they weren't allowed to be together in Virginia.

Written in a simple way for children to understand, this book tells the story of the Loving family and how they fought for their marriage to be legal in Virginia.

The illustrations were nice. I think it is great there is a picture book like this for children. It is important for children to learn about at one time people of different races weren't allowed to be together, and that two people in love changed that.
